Welcome to our new pastor and his wife!

Pastor Rod Shearer and his wife, Mary Ellen, come to us with many years experience in the ministry of the Methodist Church – mostly in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. (Mary Ellen says she has moved 11 times in their 42 years of marriage!) Pastor Rod grew up on a farm in Wernersville and graduated from Conrad Weiser High School. He graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a history degree and then married his college sweetheart, Mary Ellen, who also graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a degree in elementary education. She received her Master of Education from the University of Dayton. Pastor Rod obtained his Master of Divinity degree at the United Theology Seminary in Dayton, Ohio; and his PhD at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. He served as associate pastor of St. Paul’s UMC in Elizabethtown; pastor of Green Village UMC in northern NJ; Chaplain and Adjunct Professor of Re ligion at Lebanon Valley College; pastor of Fritz Memorial UMC in Bethlehem; pastor of ONO UMC; Academic Dean of Evangelical School of Theology, Myerstown; and for the last 6 years Pastor Rod has been the District Superintendent of the Harkness-Allentown District of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. Pastor Rod and Mary Ellen are the proud parents of three married daughters who all live nearby: Laurabeth, Angela and Sara Helene. They also have four beautiful grandchildren whom make frequent visits to the parsonage. Make sure you introduce yourself to Pastor Rod and Mary Ellen as they are both eager to get to know our Kochenderfer family.

• Browse around our website to get a feel for what we're all about.  
• We celebrate together each Sunday with a Traditional Worship service from 8:15am to 9am and a Contemporary Praise Service from 10:30 to 11:45am.
• We love children and offer an extensive ministry which includes: Sunday School from 9:10 to 10:10am for ages 3 through 6th Grade and Crib Room services during both Worship services.
• If you have children ages 3 through 2^nd grade they will love KAPERS our kid’s worship ministry during our 10:30am contemporary worship experience. To help our children understand worship they begin in the sanctuary for a time of praise, and prayer and are then directed by A team of adults and youth who lead them in singing, children’s sermon, dramas, memory verse, craft and snack. From time to time the children will make cards for our homebound, military friends and families, decorate boxes for our food bank to use for food distribution, learn to love each other the way God loves them, and how to follow in the footsteps of Jesus each day
• Our Youth Ministry - KYAC (Kochenderfer Youth Action Club) has it's own website ... Check It Out (grades 6 through 12)
• We would NEVER leave out our adults, our Sunday School Ministry time for you is 9:10 to 10:10am each Sunday ...with challenging topics and top-notch teachers.
